Retired Brianne Theisen-Eaton to Run Chicago Marathon for Charity

By Adam Kopet, DyeStat Editor

Brianne Theisen-Eaton's professional sports career has ended. The 28-year old Canadian heptathlete announced her retirement earlier this year.

But now she has a new athletics goal ahead of her, running the Chicago Marathon in October according to a post on her Web site.

Theisen-Eaton shares some insights into what it has been like to work out as a retired athlete. As a multi-event athlete, she never trained for distance, but that gives her the opportunity to attempt a new challenge while running for Team World Vision, a charity she and her husband, Ashton Eaton, have worked with for several years.

As much as Thesien-Eaton's athletic accomplishments might suggest success (2016 Olympic heptathlon bronze and 2016 IAAF World Indoor pentathlon gold), she is placing no goals on herself beyond raising money to provide 60 people in Africa with clean water.
